BOOKWORM INTERVIEW 13: With Sandra Ans (The Pretty Travel Blogger)

Eiyo Fadneiras,

Salam Eid Mubarak to all my Muslim friends. Today is the second day of Eid. How was your celebration yesterday? I hope you guys had a good celebration with your family and loved ones.

Today, I'm going to share another Bookworm Interview episode. Pretty travel blogger from Latvia - Sandra Ans is back as a guest star on Fadima Mooneira. Last month, Sandra participated in Fadima Mooneira's Bloggers Interview. Now, Sandra returns as a guest star for Fadima Mooneira's Bookworm Interview.

Now let's not waste time and get started with the interview. We shall begin with Sandra's profile...

ABOUT SANDRA ANS

Travel Blogger for My Small Travel Guide -Sandra Ans

Name:  Sandra Ans

Occupation: Online marketing manager, travel blogger, and dog mum

Bio:

I am coming from Latvia, but already 3,5 years I am living in Germany, Berlin. Here, I learned German, studied online marketing, started blogging, and met my Pomeranian boy – Chico. But if we talk about books, I don't prefer topics about traveling and dog training. No, no! I love everything about self-improvement, personal development, mental health, and psychology.

THE INTERVIEW

#1 When did you first start reading for pleasure?

Reading for pleasure I started not so long time ago – shortly before I moved to Germany. That's only about 5 years, but as I like to say – better later, than never!

#2 What is the first book you read?

Ohh, I am sure that you don't know this book because it has written a Russian writer and translated to Latvian – my native language. But anyway, ''Pifa Piedzīvojumi'' (Adventures of Pif) is something that makes me smile every time I see this book. It tells the story of a surprisingly clever dog and his funny adventures.

#3 I haven't heard of Adventures Of Pit. That's an interesting share. Thank you. So what genre do you read?

I love everything about self-improvement, personal development, mental health, and psychology.

#4 Do you judge a book by its cover?

Yes, I do. The book's cover is the first thing I see before I take a closer look. The cover is an advertisement, a story in one picture, and a visual technique to get your attention. You will always judge things that were made to have some special influence on you.

#5 What is your all-time favorite novel and why? Do you repeat reading it?

Without any hesitations - ''The secret letters of the Monk who sold his Ferrari'' by Robin Sharma. From the first time I started to read it, I knew, that it's not that ''one-time'' book and I am re-reading it every time I feel a need for some inspiration and motivation. For me, this book is a real masterpiece because it includes all the most important things I like – traveling, life-changing experience, self-knowledge and improvement, adventures, and selecting your priorities.

#6 Would you recommend your favorite novel to other bookworms?

If the person is interested in self-improvement, is open-minded, and loves to learn something new, then my answer is DEFINITELY YES, YES, YES!!! You will not regret it!

#7 Who is your favorite author?

Robin Sharma. He has written many books and I love his writing style and used methods. He has found the balance between a complex topic of self-knowledge and an easy-to-read book.

#8 What ambiance do you prefer for reading? Quiet at home? Or somewhere green and serene?

Definitely quiet at home. Sitting in my bed covered with a blanket, drinking good white wine, and feeling my dog sleeping at my feet. That's my safe and quiet place. My perfection.

#9 How’s the reading culture in your country?

In Latvia, people are more likely to start actively read books after 30 years. Very active readers are the older generation. But the younger people are more likely to play on computer and party. If they need to choose to read a book or watch a movie based on the book, they will most likely choose the movie. It saves your time and you can do it together with friends and family.

#10 Do you have any ideas on how to improve the reading culture in your country?

The first books we got and read were already before school-start and as I remember, we all were interested to explore these funny, colorful books. But unfortunately, a wrong school system is the reason why children begin to hate books and choose other things over reading. I know it because I have gone through it! In every school, every year, every child is getting a special book-list that they are forced to read (and no one likes to be forced to do something, right?). Most of the books are literary treasures and so on, but all those books are pretty hard to read and have topics about which no one has an interest. If schools could change the reading culture already from the beginning and give children the possibility to choose more books they like and topics they are interested in, I think, it would be a huge step!

Ok, that's all the questions I have for this interview. Thank you again, Sandra, for returning as a guest star on Fadima Mooneira.  I am and will always be grateful to have you here as my guest star. I wish you all the best in your career. Pls, keep up the good work. Btw, you made me want to read Robin Sharma's books.

For those who are interested to become a guest star on Fadima Mooneira, pls feel free to email me at garnet.earthtiger@gmail.com. FYI, I'm looking for more guest stars to participate in both- Fadima Mooneira Bookworm Interview and Bloggers Interview. So, if you are interested, pls feel free to email me and tell me which interview you are interested to participate in. I will be happy to feature you on my blog ^_^

Ok, that's all for now. Thank you for reading this interview. See you guys again soon. Take care.

XoXo,

Fadima Mooneira ^_^

  14. It was nice learning more about Sandra! I agree it's hard not to judge a book by its cover & I definitely need to read The Secret Letters of the Monk Who Sold His Ferrari now!
I completely agree that many of the books I had to read in school were difficult to understand & had dark topics, but my school did have a program where once you read a chosen book from this long list, you took a quiz & you would earn points based on how well you did on the quiz. At the end of the year you could redeem your points for all different prizes. Many of the kids including myself read a TON of books especially since we could pick what we read & there was an incentive.
