BLOGGERS INTERVIEW: WITH THE GRUMPY OLIVE

Eiyo dearies,

The Fadima Mooneira Bloggers Interview is back after three months hiatus. For today's episode, I'll be interviewing three creative and imaginative girl bloggers from Italy. These three girls are Fred, Simona, and Cristina. They are the bloggers behind The Grumpy Olive blog.

The Grumpy Olive is now one of my favorite blogs. The Grumpy Olive is a lovely blog to follow and subscribe to. Fred, Simona, and Cristina share lovely content such as articles on lifestyle, books, coffee, travel, and food recipes (I love all the recipes they've shared ^_^).

THE INTERVIEW

1. Eiyo lovely ladies, tell me about yourself and your blog.

We are a trio of sisters writing everything from lifestyle, food recipes, book posts, coffee, and travel. The name has been there for quite a while. It used to be Simona’s first blog and the name came up from Fred. We all had our different blogs previously, but during the lockdown, we decided to team up under the same name and blog together.

2. How long have you been blogging?

On and off Simona and Fred have been blogging since 2013. Cristina started a couple of years later. And we teamed up on The Grumpy Olive in 2020 and officially launched in August of 2021.

3. What makes you want to become a blogger?

I think for the three of us was the chance to be able to share our creativity and passions in different ways than a regular job could offer. Creating a platform and a community where we can be ourselves and inspire others.

4. What makes your blog unique compare to other blogs?

I would say first of all because we are three sisters, that is pretty unique as a selling point. I think that teaming up on a long-term project has always been on our minds and this blog gave us a chance to work together. It’s no easy feast, putting together three different opinions and agreeing on everything, but we grew a lot since we started. Also, the fact that we are multi-niche and share everything we love, without fixing on one topic only.

5. Does your blog have a corporate color, logo, mascot, or banner?

We have a color palette that we all agreed on, which took days to work on, so I guess it does describe the three of us. I would say Tjay, our cat is our main mascot, which you can see often on Instagram. We are planning to rebrand this new year, so keep an eye out!

6. How often do you publish a new post? And how do you keep yourself motivated?

We started three times a week. So each of us would publish once, then we had to go twice a week as Fred enrolled in University and has to study. Christmas was a tour de force where we tried to write almost every day. Motivation is hard to keep up at times, but working towards our end goal of making this feasible is what makes us work every day after we are back from our daily jobs.

7. Do you have any strategy to boost your blog traffic? Please share some tips.

Being yourself I think is top and foremost the best tip you can find. Working on your SEO is so important and if we could go back it’s something we would implement since the beginning. Also, it takes time, it’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon, so keep going! There will always be good and bad days, but taking some rest, recharging, and getting back with a fresh mind is the best way.

8. What are your top 3 most successful posts? What makes you think these top 3 posts are appealing?

The Most Delicious Peach Curd Recipe

Greek Myths – What To Read If You Love Mythology

So our recipes and book posts seem to be on the top. We think it’s because the recipes are easy and quick to make, while the book recommendations or reviews are quite relatable and specific, like this one on Greek mythology.

9. Besides writing on your blog, do also write and contribute articles to other blogs and websites?

We are currently launching our new blog The Spaghetti Sisterhood and offer virtual assistant services, which are still both in the works. We also did have some opportunities to write for other fellow bloggers and a couple of brands.

10. Where do you wish your blog to be in 5 years?

We would love for it to become our full-time job. We love writing, cooking, and sharing brands and things we love. So hopefully we can take this to the next level in the next few years! And also open another blog, which is already on the work over at The Spaghetti Sisterhood.
