ADAM NEW PROFILE
Mr. Adam New -The blogger for Dad Does Autism
Name: Adam New
Hi, my name is Adam, I love with my partner Natalie and our 2 autistic children Jack & Lily. I left my job working for Royal Mail for over 16 years in March. To take the role as stay at home Dad/carer to my 2 children. In order to make sure they were getting the care that they needed, and also give Natalie a chance to pursue the career she wants. Now my “work” is my blog Dad Does Autism. Where I’m trying to spread awareness and acceptance for autism. Looking at the what out life is like, how autism affects it, but also showing that we just do fun normal family stuff too.

When did you first start reading for pleasure?
I guess it was after leaving college, that I first started reading, and it not being for education purposes. So when I was 18
What is the first book/novel you read?
The first novel I can remember reading was The Lord of the Flies by William Golding. It seems to have had about 20 different front covers, but I found the one I had.
Cool! So what genre do you read?
I read different genres, but my go to, most read genre would definitely be fantasy.
Do you judge a book by its cover?
The cover and the title are certainly the first things I will look at, especially if I haven’t read anything from the author before. So I guess the answer is yes.
What is your all time favourite book/novel and why?
This is a difficult one to answer. I don’t have an answer that jumps out at me. I will go with, the Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, which is part one of the ongoing fantasy trilogy, the King Killer chronicle.
Do you repeat reading it?
No, I don’t usually repeat read, but it’s been several years since I read it, and I’m yet to read the second book. So I may read it again to refresh my memory.
Would you recommend your favourite book/novel to other bookworms?
Yes, especially if you are a fan of the fantasy genre. As far as modern fantasy writing goes, this is as good as it gets.
Who is your favourite author?
Again I don’t have an obvious favourite, Rothfuss is on his way to becoming my favourite, but for now I’ll stick with JRR Tolkien and his classic fantasy stories.
What ambience do you prefer for reading?
Anywhere where I can find some quiet, preferably outside where you can hear the sounds of nature I find a great place to read.
How’s the reading culture in your country?
I think you are either a reader or you are not. It’s something you have to have a passion for, especially with all the other, less time consuming and “easier” options there are to be entertained now. How big is is the reading culture? I’m not too sure, it feels like it’s becoming more and more of a niche thing, but I don’t have actual evidence to back that up.
Do you have any ideas how to improve the reading culture in your country?
Like I said, you have to have a passion for it. The best way to keep people reading, is start as children, but make it fun, not like school work. Something you have to do but don’t enjoy. My experience with my children, is that schools are doing an okay job. I think that they maybe try to push reading a bit to hard, demanding children should read every day, which makes it more like a chore, than a fun activity in my opinion. Let them enjoy books they like at their own pace, and I feel like the love of reading is more likely to flourish.

Sal suka gak membaca sejak dari zaman sekolah rendah lagi cuma bila dah kerja & ada family , masa amat membatasi . Tapi tetap luangkan masa sebab boleh baca secara onlineReplyDelete
Ok lah tu. Teruskan membaca ya.Delete
Its true like what he said that it takes passion for someone to love reading. You cant force them if they do not have the passion n time for it.ReplyDelete
Yep, I second that too. You can’t force a person to something he/she is not passionate about. Mereka akan buat kerja x ihklas pun.Delete
Great interview! I really like Adam's blog so it's nice to hear more from him here :)ReplyDelete
