The Six Old-Normal Things That I Miss

Eiyo dearies,

How are you guys doing? Are you guys happy that the movement control order (MCO) is over now? Malaysia is re-opening its economy. Same with other countries. I'm sure most of you are happy now. I heard some of you already made your travel plans. That's great. To my foreign readers, MCO is referred to as "lockdown" or "partial lockdown". We Malaysians call lockdown as MCO.

Before I begin today's post, I would like to remind you guys that COVID-19 is not over yet although MCO is over. Places are opening because of the economy, not because it is safe. So pls keep that in mind.

Yesterday, I went to the mall for the first time after MCO, things were different compare to before. It was weird.  I feel uncomfortable wearing a face mask, and having my temperature checked every time I entered a store. I also have to sanitize my hands every time I touched things. Well, these are the SOPs now. These are also the new-normal that we have to follow.

Yesterday made me realized that I miss the old-normal. So in this new post,  I would like to share with you guys the six old-normal things that I miss......

#1  ENJOYING AN AFTERNOON WALK AT THE PARK

Taman Sri Empangan-one of the best parks in Putrajaya. (Image snap-shot by me using my iPhone)

Going for an afternoon walk at the park is a good therapy for me. It is nice to jog, cycle, go for a brisk walk, or just enjoy side seeing at the park. A park is also a good place to snap-shot beautiful pictures. I still can go to the park in this new-normal. As long as the park is not crowded, it will be ok.

#2 WINDOW SHOPPING

Me window shopping at Kedah Mall (Image Snap Shot by my father using his iPhone)

Window shopping is one of my favorite therapy. I love going to the mall just to check out what's new in stores. It's fun! But window shopping is not easy to do during this new normal. This new-normal doesn't allow us to dilly-dally at the mall. Geez!

#3 FAMILY GATHERINGS

Me with Auntie Ina and cousin Izara druing a family gathering (Image snap-shot by my mother using her Samsung Galaxy S10)

My family and I loves to do family gatherings. We usually organize gatherings at least once a month. I miss family gatherings. I miss meeting my uncles, aunties, cousins, nieces, and nephews. I haven't met them since MCO.

Eid Mubarak celebration last May was different compare to years before. Every year during Eid Mubarak, our family usually organized family gatherings. But this year, we celebrated Eid just by WhatsApp video calls.

#4 GIRLS' DAY OUT

With my girls - Azie and Maddie (Image snap-shot by Azie using her Samsung phone)

Enjoying a girls' day out is the old-normal thing that I miss the most. I miss hanging out with my girls. Enjoying a girls' day out is part of my therapy. When I'm with my girls, I always feel happy. When me and my girls get together, we chat, laugh out loud, watch movies, karaoke, dine at hipster restaurants together. We also dress our best and took selfies together. Maddie, Fadet, Iza, Raden, and Azie...I miss you girls a lot. I wish we can have a girls' day out soon.

#5 WATCHING MOVIES AT THE CINEMA

Me and my BFF, Maddie - We watched Spider-Man: Far From Home and shared a man-crush toghether ^_^ (Image snap-shot by my mother using her Samsung Galaxy S9)

I haven't visited the cinema for quite a long time. Going to the cinema is something I love to do. I hope the cinema will be ok soon. I already planned to watch Mulan and The Secret Garden.

#6 TRAVEL

Me and my mother at Teddy Ville Museum, Penang. (Image snap shot by our tour guide using my iPhone)

I haven't travel anywhere yet in 2020. My family and I also haven't made any traveling plans yet. I miss traveling. Traveling is an annual activity for us. I wish this pandemic will end soon. I want to travel.

Ok, so these are the six old-normal things that I miss. I pray that the world will get back to the old-normal soon. Btw, how are you guys coping with the new-normal? What are the old-normal things that you guys miss? Pls, share your thoughts with me.

That's all for now, thank you for reading.

XoXo,

Fadima Mooneira ^_^

  1. I totally agree with you that we need to be even more careful now that things are slowly reopening. The virus is still around, it didnt magically disappear after locdown.
I also miss travelling a lot but what I have found that works for my wanderlust is exploring new/unknown places around me.
I hope you stay safe and well.

  17. I miss so much of this too! I am in the UK, and our lockdown is also beginning to lift, so we can go to the shops and some restaurants are open - but it's the same thing, we need to wear masks and stay away from other people. Strange new normal!

  25. Yes to all of these!!! Especially family gatherings. Here in the UK, we are already allowed to go (non-essential) shopping and soon we will be able to go to the pub. How come I can sit in a room full of sweaty, drunk strangers but I can't go and sit in my dad's living room, one-on-one and enjoy a cup of tea?? It's so backwards :(
