BOOKWORM INTERVIEW 6: With Aerill Hassan (Lifestyle, Food & Travel Blogger)

Eiyo everyone,

Welcome back to another Fadima Mooneira Bookworm Interview episode. I'm grateful that the bookworm interview episode has been doing well so far. To my new readers, this bookworm interview is a monthly interview episode that I created for bookworms to participate in. Every month, I posted one bookworm interview on this blog.

For those who are interested to participate in this bookworm interview, I will share with you guys the instruction at the end of this post. So pls, read this interview till the end ^_^

For Fadima Mooneira Bookworm Interview episode six, I interviewed a Malaysian blogger named, Aerill Hassan. Aerill blogs about lifestyle, food, and travel. In his blog, Aerill writes about Malaysian lifestyle, food, and tourism. In my opinion, Aerill's blog is an awesome guide for foreigners to learn about Malaysia. Aerill is also a bookworm. He enjoys reading thriller, horror, and crime novels. He is a big fan of Ramlee Awang Murshid (Malaysia's no.1 thriller novelist) just like me ^_^ If you wanna know more about Aerill, you can check out his profile below, and read his opinions about books and the reading culture in Malaysia.

THE INTERVIEW

When did you first start reading for pleasure?

I think it started when I went to boarding school. I love to read a lot of books and my parent will buy books for me each month.

What is the first book/novel you read?

I did not remember the first book, but the first novel is Hatiku Di Harajuku by Ramlee Awang Murshid. This novel makes me want to learn the Japanese language and visit Japan.  I got lucky during my secondary school, they provide a selection of languages to learn, and I choose Japanese.

Wow!!!!!!!!! That's awesome. So what genre do you read?

I love thrillers, horror, and crime. But actually, I read all genres. For horror novels, I always read the books from Fixi.

Do you judge a book by it's cover?

Never. I always believe that the cover is just the surface and not the content.

What is your all-time favorite book/novel and why? Do you repeat reading it?

This question is very tough! Haha. My all-time favorite novel is Bagaikan Puteri by Ramlee Awang Murshid. The best thing is this novel is the first book under the Laksamana Sunan series! I hope one day they will make the story in the series to film like Harry Potter!

Would you recommend your favorite book/novel to other bookworms?

Yes! I would recommend them to read the novels written by Ramlee Awang Murshid!

Who is your favorite author?

My favorite author of course is Ramlee Awang Murshid. I love how he wrote the story which combines a lot of genres. Oh, he is the No 1 Thriller Novelis in Malaysia!

What ambiance do you prefer for reading? Quiet at home? Or somewhere green and serene?

I can read anywhere and anytime. Haha. Before this, I have read Fixi books on the bus, in the car, and on the train! However, when I’m reading, I hate to be disturbed by anyone or anything.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!! That's impressive. So what are your opinions about the reading culture in our country?

I think in Malaysia, the trend for reading is very poor. There are still people that read and whatnot but people tend to watch movies or stories on YouTube rather than read it in the novel.

Do you have any ideas on how to improve the reading culture in your country?

Maybe the government and NGO should continue to promote e-book or e-novel to the younger generation. Also, they should help the publication house, bookstore, author because today, many bookstores closed because they do not make a profit anymore. Maybe just help them open online store?

Ok...so these are all the questions I have for this bookworm interview. Thank you, Aerill for precious time. Thank you for sharing your opinions on books and the reading culture in Malaysia. So far, I enjoyed interviewing you. All the best to you for your blogging journey and pls keep on the good work.
