Eiyo dearies,

I am back with a new post ^_^ Happy July and Happy Independence Day to my American friends (4th of July is America Independence Day) I hope you guy are celebrating your Independence Day with a blast.

I just finished reading a novel early this week. The novel's title is Gadis Bermata Hazel (GBH/ in English it means Girl With Hazel Eyes). The novel is written by Lily Irdina. So in this post, I'm going to share with you guys my review of GBH. So let's get started ^_^

Lily Irdina is a young Malaysian author and novelist. GBH is Lily Irdina's second novel. Her first novel is Awak Cun! (You're Pretty!). If you guys want to know more about Lily Irdina, you can view her Facebook page - Nana Jasmine, or Instagram @nanadr06.

A BRIEF SUMMARY FOR GADIS BERMATA HAZEL

GBH tells a story about a beautiful and hot Eurasian model named Selena. Selena stays in London with her mother, Amira who is a famous fashion designer. Amira is a single mother. Amira owns a fashion brand called Miracle. Selena is the IT Girl in the British Fashion Industry. Selena's face is everywhere- on prints, billboards, and fashion shows. Selena's fame makes her rival-Amy Patricia and pretend-boyfriend -Jared jealous.

One day, Selena faces a terrible incident. The incident makes Selena and Amira move to Melaka, Malaysia. Melaka is Selena's birthplace. In Melaka, Selena meets a girl named Amanda. Amanda is a medical student. Selena and Amanda look alike although they have different personalities. Selena and Amanda became good friends. Selena and Amanda discover that they are long lost, identical twins. Their parents, divorced when they were only two years old.

Selena and Amanda wish to bring their family back together. So they decide to switch places. Selena pretends as Amanda and stays with her father, Shafiq, while Amanda pretends to be Selena and stays with Amira. Hilarious things happened when the twins switch places.

However, the story ends with a happy ending. Shafiq and Amira get back together. Shafiq and Amira realized how much they miss each other. Shafiq and Amira re-married. And they start a new adventure together.

MY REVIEW FOR GADIS BERMATA HAZEL

During Malaysia's movement control order (MCO/Partial lockdown), I wanted to read a novel with a chic and sassy storyline. So, my friend, Lina recommended me to read GBH. Lina told me that GBH is a chic and sassy novel.

I'm glad that Lina recommended me to read GBH. GBH does have a chic and sassy storyline. The story is also hilarious, fun, and enjoyable to read. Thank you, Lina, for recommending me to read GBH. I  enjoyed reading GBH ^_^

I liked the way Lily Irdina portrays Selena and Amanda. Although Selena and Amanda are identical twins, they both have different personalities and identities. Selena is talkative, friendly, cheeky, sassy, optimist, and a girly-girl. Selena's favorite color is pink, and she likes caucasian guys. Amanda is not-so-girly, practical, quiet, and a bit shy. Amanda's favorite color is black, and she likes Asian guys.

Besides the chic and sassy storyline, Selena and Amanda's character, I also liked the way Lily Irdina applies her knowledge in medicine, cars, fashion, and pop-culture into her writing. It makes the novel more enjoyable and fun to read. Lily Irdina is very up to date in pop-culture. Lily Irdina creates Selena and Amanda's beauty after Cara Delevingene. She also creates Kai (Selena's love interest) after Douglas Booth (I don't know who Douglas Booth is before I read GBH). This makes it easier for me to imagine how GBH's characters look like.

Overall, I rate GBH 7/10. I would like to recommend this novel to fellow bookworms who loved chich and sassy novels. If you like Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic, you will enjoy GBH.

Before I end this post, I would like to ask you guys some questions. Has anyone read Gadis Bermata Hazel? If yes, what is your opinion about the novel? I'm also looking for more chich and sassy novels to read. Does anyone have recommendations? Pls, share your recommendations and answers in the comment box below ^_^

That's all for now. Pls, don't be stingy to buy and read books. Thank you for reading and take care. Hope to see you guys again.

XoXo,

Fadima Mooneira ^_^
