MY JULY & AUGUST 2O26 READING WRAP-UP

Welcome back to Fadima Mooneira. How's everyone doing? I hope you guys are doing great. I'm back from 2 weeks hiatus. I just got back from hotel and Airbnb hopping. The renovation for our home is done. Alhamdulillah. But returning from hotel and Airbnb hopping is not the same as returning from vacation, where you just unpack your suitcase and that's it. You have to re-furnish and redecorate your house once again. It's fun, but also very tiring. And worse, you have to declutter some old things. Not all things can fit in our brand-new home. Decluttering is really hard for me, as I'm a collector of soooooo many things. Geez! I hate decluttering! I only declutter things when they're broken. Ahax! Umm... I don't wanna talk about it anymore. Just pray that everything will be at ease for me, and I can totally get back to my creative works. Aamiin.
Btw, I'm going to share my July & August 2026 reading wrap-up in this entry. Now let's check out the books I've read during July and August...
#1 THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS

THE STORY
The story takes place in North America in 1757. At that time, Great Britain and France were fighting for supremacy in North America. The British stronghold of Fort William Henry is under attack from French forces and their Native American allies.
Cora and Alice Munro were traveling to the fort to visit their father, who was a commander there. The Munro sisters were attacked by Magua and his troops (the French allies). Cora and Alice were saved by a Red Indian warrior named Hawkeye and his Mohican companions, Chingachgook and Uncas. But Magua managed to escape, and the Munro sisters' perilous journey is only just beginning...
MY REVIEW
This is the first time I've read The Last Of The Mohicans (TLOTM). Before this, I watched the movie 10 times. The book and the movie have different storylines and endings. Since I love the movie a lot, I found the book disappointing.
In the movie, Cora's love interest is Hawkeye. These two have very electrifying chemistry together. But in the book, Hawkeye is nobody's love interest. Cora is Uncas's love interest instead. That spoils the mood for me. Geez! Both the movie and the book have sad endings. But the ending in the book is way more tragic. I don't like it at all :(
However, the setting of the story gives me insight into what America was like during the New World era. And that makes the story a little bit enjoyable to read. Overall, I rate this novel 7/10. I'm still going to recommend TLOTM to my fellow bookworms who are into classic literature. This book is still worth reading, guys ^_^
#2 KERABAT

The investigators believe that a shapeshifter from the past murdered the 3 royals. The shapeshifter is also after someone related to the Darul Radwa royal family. Who is that person the shapeshifter is looking for? And why is the shapeshifter looking for that person?
MY REVIEW
Whoa! This is one of the most mind-blowing novels I've ever read. Reading Kerabat made me question everything I thought I knew about ego, responsibility, and personal interest. It's hard for me to decide between Aisyah and Tengku Khadijah- who is the culprit and villain? And who should be blamed for causing the chaos in Darul Radwa?
Second, I want to congratulate Nadia Khan on her brilliant imagination. I love the world-building of Darul Radwa. Kerabat also has a very unique plot and storyline. The story has a good moral message. The author strongly highlighted the importance of integrity in life. Kerabat is a page-turner and an intriguing novel to read. Every chapter ends with 'what's next?'
Overall, I'm giving this novel a 10/10. It's a masterpiece by Nadia Khan. It's a very brilliant read indeed. I highly recommend my fellow bookworms to check out Kerabat. This novel is a must-not-miss, guys. So, better make sure you don't miss out ^_^
#3 KING OF GREED

Dominic missed their 10th anniversary. Alessandra tells Dominic that she wants a divorce. Alessandra's words crush Dominic. Dominic still loves Alessandra. He is always in love with her. She is the reason why he works hard. Dominic always wants the best for Alessandra. And now he wants to win her back. Will Dominic succeed?
MY REVIEW
Yayhooo!!! Another 10/10 for Ana Huang from me ^_^ I absolutely love King of Greed (KOG). The story is beautiful. It doesn't have too much drama or too many twists and turns. The story carries a lot of moral messages in it. Alessandra and Dominic's separation is just an illusion. From the separation, Alessandra and Dominic learn about themselves and the mistakes they made. Dominic realises that it is not wealth and luxury that makes Alessandra happy. But his presence is what she wants. And Alessandra learns to be more open and communicate better with her husband.
Dominic and Alessandra are a very beautiful couple. They are a match in heaven. Their chemistry is so electrifying. Dominic is a very swoon-worthy hero. Alessandra is a strong-willed and independent heroine. Among all of Ana Huang's female leads, I can strongly relate to Alessandra the most.
Never settle for less than you deserve, know your worth, and choose yourself. These are the three moral messages Ana Huang wants her readers to bring home from KOG. Yes, she delivers the messages well. And I like the messages.
I highly recommend KOG to my fellow bookworms who are into the new adult romance genre. Trust me, you won't be disappointed ^_^
Okay, so these are the books I've read during July and August 2026. Whoa! Less than before, right? I know... the hotel and Airbnb hopping gives me reading slum. I hope I'll get back to my momentum soon.
