ABOUT AWEKKU MINAH LATAH

Awekku Minah Latah (AML)/ My Loud Girlfriend belongs in the romantic comedy genre. Besides romantic comedy, Aida Adia also includes some office romance and family elements in AML.

The protagonist in this novel is Siti Maisara. Siti Maisara is an ordinary beauty. She's not Aphrodite or even Carrie Bradshaw. But Siti Maisara is brave, strong, bold, courageous, smart, quick-witted, adorable, and a girl with a big heart. Siti Maisara's inner beauty makes her an outstanding person. Most of Siti Maisara's friends adore her for her inner beauty.

Siti Maisara may be a cheerful girl from the outside. But deep inside, she is struggling with so many things. Her father, Pak Musa is not a good person. Pak Musa only cares for his two sons, Abdul Muaz and Abdul Muin. But Pak Musa never bothers to show his love for his wife, Mak Odah, and daughters, Siti Maisara, Siti Musliha, and Siti Mariam. Pak Musa's sons are not good people either. Abdul Muaz is a terrible gambler, and he ends up being a crook, while Abdul Muin is a drug addict.

The love interest in this novel is Zaim. Zaim is a metrosexual guy with perfect visuals. He has a great body and face, flawless skin, and shiny hair. But Zaim is also an arrogant guy. He looks down on Siti Maisara for her terrible fashion sense.

In the middle of the story, Zaim is attacked by a crook. The crook pours acid onto Zaim's flawless face. The acid makes Zaim from a metrosexual guy to a handicapped. The acid also makes Zaim becomes blind. Towards the end of the story, Zaim realized that he is in love with Siti Maisara. But will she accept him for the person he is now?

MY REVIEW OF AWEKKU MINAH LATAH

First of all, I'm going to be honest with you guys that this is my second time reading AML. This novel is actually a 2016 birthday present to me from the author (we are Facebook friends ^_^). But at that time, I was too busy with my daytime job. So I did not finish reading this novel when I first read it in 2016. So now, I'm grateful that I already finished reading AML. Syukur alhamdulillah ^_^

To me, AML is an enjoyable read. This novel is good for light reading. AML is also good to read while enjoying your vacation.

The two actors I fan cast as Siti Maisara & Zaim. Since Siti Maisara is an ordinary beauty, I believe Awkwafina is the best for the role. And since the author describes Zaim as a flawless metrosexual guy, I believe Lee Dong Wook is the best for the role. Plus, I believe Awkwafina and Lee Dong Wook will have dazzling chemistry together. Yeah, I want to see them as an on-screen couple one day ^_^

I like the family elements that the author includes in her writing. I believe the author portrays Siti Maisara's family conflict so well and clear. I also like Siti Maisara's character. I believe Siti Maisara is such an adorable female protagonist. Plus, she is also funny, cheerful, and bright. And most of all, I like that the author makes inner beauty wins against outer beauty in this story.

Overall, I'm giving this novel a 7/10. I also want to recommend this novel to my fellow bookworms who are looking for a light read and into the romantic comedy genre.

Ok, so this is my review of Awekku Minah Latah by Aida Adia. So has anyone read Awekku Minah Latah? If yes, what are your opinions of this novel?

Last but not least, I hope you guys enjoy reading this review. Thank you for reading my review of Awekku Minah Latah. See you guys again in my next post.

Take care and bonne weekend,

Fadima Mooneira ^_^

  12. I have yet to venture into reading Malay's love story novel. I prefer the horror/ mystery type if it is in Malay. Ada feel lebih bila baca kisah seram in Malay. Hehehe.

BUt if it's Akwafina in the silver screen, I will watch AML. hehe

  21. Omg cute la awakkk. Terus dah bayangkan siapa sesuai jadi actor/ess.. memang camtu kan bila baca novel je mesti kita ada our own visionary siapa jadi pelakon dia. Tapi once keluar je kat TV kalau orang lain - punah harapan hahaha

    1. Yes. That's one of my motivation to read fictions. Imagining my favorite celebrities as the characters.
