Eiyo Fadneiras,

Welcome back to Fadima Mooneir. I'm back blogging again. Whew... it's been quite a while. Does anyone miss me? Hehehe ^_^

Well, let me explain the reasons for my absence. During the last week of April and early May, I was in Sarawak enjoying a family vacation. After returning from Sarawak, I was busy launching Saranghaeyo Namsan (my second novel). After launching Saranghaeyo Namsan, I was busy preparing myself for the Kuala Lumpur International Book Festival 2024 (KLIBF 2024). Huhuhu... what a busy schedule I had. However, syukur alhamdulillah everything went well for me ^_^

Yeah... my second baby, Saranghaeyo Namsan is now available for you guys to grab. Yay!!! The wait is over. Syukur alhamdulillah. The novel can be purchased via my online shop, Fadneira_On94U. Okay, now let's carry on with today's objective. For today's post, I will share my review of Carissa Broadbent's The Serpent And The Wings Of Night. Now let's begin this review with the author's bio...

ABOUT CARISSA BROADBENT

The sassy romantasy author ~ Carissa Broadbent (Image: carissabroadbentbooks.com)

Carissa Broadbent is an American author who is based in Rhode Island. She lives with her husband, two rabbits, and one cat. Romantasy is her genre. Broadbent describes her novels as fantasy novels featuring badass ladies and a heaping dose of romance. Her novels include the Crowns Of Nyaxia series (The Serpent & The Wings Of Night, Six Scorched Roses, The Ashes & The Star-Cursed King, Slaying The Vampire Conqueror) and the War of Lost Hearts series (Ashen Son, Daughter Of No Worlds, Children Of Fallen Gods, and Mother of Death & Dawn).

ABOUT THE SERPENT & THE WINGS OF NIGHT

The Serpent & The Wings Of Night (TSTWN) followed a human girl named Oraya. Oraya was only a child when the vampires attacked her village and killed her family. Oraya was almost killed by one of the Nightborn vampires. But King Vincent, leader of the Nightborn vampires saved her.

King Vincent took Oraya to his kingdom and raised her like his own daughter. He taught her self-defense and martial arts. King Vincent made Oraya a Princess Warrior. King Vincent also told Oraya that her only chance to become something more than prey is to enter the Kejari: a legendary tournament held by the goddess of death, Nyaxia. Oraya agreed to take part in the Kejari even though it might be risky for her.

Winning the Kejari won't be easy for Oraya. She had to fight with vicious vampire warriors with different kinds of talents and skills. She might get herself killed. To survive, Oraya is forced to make an alliance with a mysterious rival named Raihn.

Raihn was handsome yet dangerous. He was a ruthless vampire, an efficient killer, an enemy to King Vincent, and Oraya's greatest competition. And what terrified Oraya most of all was that she had feelings for Raihn. And Raihn liked Oraya too. Oh-oh...

But Oraya and Raihn knew there was no room for love in the Kejari. Can Oraya fight her own feelings and win the dangerous tournament?

MY REVIEW OF THE SERPENT & THE WINGS OF NIGHT

Firstly, this novel is a very enjoyable read. It's a tick novel with 461 pages. But this novel is a page-turner. The plot and storyline are very intriguing. Every chapter ends with "What's next?" This makes the novel a fast read.

Secondly, I salute Broadbent's imagination. The world-building in this story is just so awesome. The vampire world that Broadbent portrays is so enchanting. Broadbent makes me want to visit Obitraes. Plus, Broadbent makes me more fascinated with vampires. Hehehe ^_^

Check out Broadbent's world-building ^_^

Besides the world-building, this story also has compelling characters. I like most of the characters that Broadbent created for her story. All of them are make-believe characters although most of them are not human. They have their strengths, flaws, and struggles. I like Oraya's character the most. She's a very strong heroine. Being the only human in the vampire world is not easy. Humans are prey to vampires. But Oraya manages to survive and at the same time, there are some vampires scared of her. She has good martial arts and hunting skills.

I also like how Broadbent portrays King Vincent and Oraya's father-and-daughter relationship. Vincent loves Oraya like she is his real daughter. But as the Nightborn King, it is not easy for him to show his love to Oraya. He also acts cold to her to make her strong. But the way King Vincent teaches Oraya self-defense shows that she is dear to him.

Overall, I rate this novel 10/10. It's a very enjoyable read for me. I believe it is one of the best novels I've read this year. This novel is also one of the best fantasy novels I've read. I'm now interested to check out Broadbent's other works. Is there anyone here a fan of Carissa Broadbent? If yes, which Broadbent novels should I read next? Feel free to share your recommendations in the comment box below. I'm also looking for more romantasy reads. So any recommendations? You know what to do. Hehehe ^_^

I highly recommend my book buddies (especially those who are fantasy and romantasy addicts) to check out The Serpent & The Wings Of Night by Carissa Broadbent. Trust me, guys, you are going to love this novel. But I also need to be honest, that this novel is spicy. So it's not suitable for those who are under 18. Hehehe ^_^

Okay, so this is my review of Carissa Broadbent's The Serpent & The Wings Of Night. This novel is an epic vampire fantasy romance. Thank you for reading this review. I'll see you guys again in my next post. Insya-Allah.

XoXo,

Fadima Mooneira ^_^

  10. Hi Fadima! It was nice reading your review! The heroine does sound like a very interesting character! What makes me interested is that she is a regular human, but you mention some vampires are afraid of her. That’s interesting because she is not particularly stronger than a vampire, but she has proven herself to be a threat. That’s what makes a hero interesting. I like heroes who are not very strong, but they still proves themselves against the antagonist who is stronger. That makes the hero look good, especially if the antagonist is very strong. The stronger and better the antagonist, the better the hero looks. Thanks for sharing your review!

    1. Oraya is a very intelligent girl. She has excellent self-defence and hunting skills. That's why some vampires are scared of her. Most of the times you have to use your brain more than your strength to defeat your rivals.
