THREE REASONS WHY RAMADAN IS A GOOD MONTH TO PRACTICE SELF-LOVE

Eiyo Fadneiras,

Welcome back to Fadima Mooneira. Since it's Ramadan now, I want to share with you guys a post related to the Islamic holy month. I'm going to share with you three reasons why Ramadan is a good month for all of us to practice self-love. Before I share with you the reasons, let me share a summary about Ramadan first ...

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. It is also known as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. During Ramadan, we Muslims are required to fast from sunrise to sunset for one month. Fasting is a must for all Muslims except those who are sick, pregnant, lactating, menstruating, elderly, or traveling. Fasting means we aren't allowed to eat, drink, smoke cigarettes, or do sexual and sinful things from sunrise to sunset. Some of the reasons why we, Muslims, are required to fast during Ramadan is because it helps us to devote ourselves to faith, brings us closer to Allah SWT, and makes us learn to be patient and compassionate. Fasting is about nourishing our souls.

During Ramadan, we, Muslim people, usually wake up before sunrise just to have our Sahur (supper). Sahur is to prepare ourselves for the day and fast. For Sahur, we usually have light meals and drink plenty of water. When sunrise begins, we fast. And after the sun fully sets, we break our fast by having dates, water, and some meals. After we break our fast, we continue our night with Fardhu and Tarawih prayer. When the beautiful month is over, we will celebrate our victory with Eid Mubarak.

Ramadan provides calmness. The calmness brings us back to the present. That's why it is an ideal month to practice self-love. And here are the reasons why ...

#1 A MONTH OF  SPIRITUAL-DETOX

Ramadan is a good month to reset ourselves. It's because this holy month provides a structured 30-day opportunity to nourish our soul, mind, and body while fostering inner peace and self-compassion. Ramadan is not a month to overwhelm ourselves with too many tasks. It requires us to focus on small, consistent actions that nourish our souls. Besides that, Ramadan also encourages us to break toxic habits like gossiping, small chit chats, lying, etc.

#2 PHYSICAL-DETOX AND MINDFUL LIVING

Taking care of our bodies is a huge responsibility. Ramadan encourages us not to overeat, eat healthy, nutritious food, and rest. These are self-love acts for our bodies. Plus, fasting provides a needed break for our body's digestive system, promoting physical rejuvenation. And by controlling desire during the day, it helps an individual build willpower and resilience, which is also good for the mind and soul.

#3 A MONTH FOR HEALING

We all struggle with our inner demons and the evil whispers of society. The calmness of Ramadan encourages us to shut the nasty voices inside and outside of our heads and replace them with kindness and positive thoughts. Life is about striving. Life is not about being perfect. Ramadan is the month to seek forgiveness from Allah SWT and those we have hurt. It's also a month to forgive ourselves for our past mistakes and those who have hurt us. Yup, Ramadan gives us the opportunity to reset ourselves, to reconnect with ourselves and Allah SWT.  So use it well. Practice compassion this Ramadan. It will be the best gift you can give yourself ^_^

Okay, so these are the three reasons that make Ramadan a good month to practice self-love. I hope you all are having a beautiful Ramadan with your family, friends, and loved ones. Take care. Be kind to yourself and others.

Insya-Allah, I'll see you guys again in my next post.

XoXo,
