Four Reasons Why Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre Is A Brilliant Novel To Me

Jane Eyre is a classic literature novel written by Charlotte Bronte in 1847. Charlotte Bronte was a famous English novelist and poet during the 19th century. Jane Eyre was Bronte's most famous novel.

The story was about a poor girl named Jane Eyre who was tortured by her own relative, Mrs. Read. Mrs. Read was very rich but also a cruel woman. Mrs. Read treated Jane like a slave at her home. Jane longed to flee from Mrs. Read's home, and soon enough she was sent to a charity school. Jane grows up and becomes a teacher at the charity school. She soon felt that she needs to move out of her comfort zone and explore her own options elsewhere. Jane soon becomes a private governess at the mansion of a rich gentleman named Mr. Rochester. Working as a private governess, Jane experience love, pain, joy, and agony. She soon leaves the mansion. Mr. Rochester falls in love with her. Mr. Rochester brought Jane Eyre back in his life and helped her out of hardship. Jane Eyre succeeds and moves out of hardship.

As a literature lover, I read Jane Eyre twice. I first read Jane Eyre when I was only 13 years old. The novel was a birthday present from my Auntie (Mak Lang). At that time, it was kinda hard for me to understand Jane Eyre. Bronte's writing is so sophisticated. So I decided to read the novel again since I am now in my thirties. I just finished reading Jane Eyre last two months. This time I understand the story better and really enjoyed reading it. So in this post, I would like to share with my readers four reasons why Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre is a brilliant novel to me. Here are the reasons...

1) Jane's Character

I love Jane Eyre's character. I think she is very bright, intelligent, sassy, bold, brave, and feminist. Jane is what a woman should be. Jane has integrity and an intellectual mind. Plus, she broke the class barriers to win equal stature with the man that she loved.

2) The Captivating Story Line

Jane Eyre has a very interesting storyline. Bronte's writing keeps me glued to the book. Bronte's writing also makes me feel connected to the author herself, and the heroine, Jane Eyre.

3) It Kills The Cinderella Syndrome In Me

Like Cinderella, Jane Eyre also endured pain, jealousy, anger, poverty, and loneliness. But Jane works her way out of the hardship all by herself. Cinderella was just lucky. In the fairytale, Cinderella never tried to escape her evil stepmother. All Cinderella did was went to the ball, drop one of her glass slippers, and of course, she was beautiful (so Prince Charming felt in love with her). In real life, there is no such thing as a "Cinderella Fairytale".  You have to go to a lot of hard work and challenges to change your life. Plus, a man doesn't just fall in love with you just because of your outer beauty. Outer beauty can easily fade. Girls, please take note...

4) It Helps Me With My French Language

I love reading novels with a little bit of French language in it. Jane Eyre is one of the novels that have the French language in it. In the novel, Jane learned the French language. So there were some dialogs written in French. As a beginner in the French language, reading Jane Eyre also helps me with my French.

I think Jane Eyre is a brilliant classic literature novel. Overall I rated Jane Eyre 10/10. I highly recommend bookworms and literature lovers to read Jane Eyre. Plus, classic literature is also a piece of general knowledge.

Ok, that's all for now. Thank you for reading this post.
