NOVEL REVIEW: MR. CAVENDISH, I PRESUME BY JULIA QUINN

Eiyo dearies,

How are you guys doing? I hope you guys are doing good. Today, I want to share my review of a novel I just finished reading last week. The novel's title is Mr. Cavendish, I Presume. It is written by Julia Quinn and belongs to the historical romance genre. Now let's begin this review with Julia Quinn's bio...

ABOUT JULIA QUINN

The brilliant award-winning novelist ~ Julia Quinn (Image: juliaquinn.com)

Julia Quinn is a brilliant award-winning novelist. She writes historical romance novels that are set in the English Regency era (1811-1820). Most of her novels have been translated into 29 different languages. Quinn has also appeared on the New York Times Bestselling List 19 times.

For those who are a big fan of Netflix's Bridgerton, I'm sure you guys are familiar with Quinn's work. The series Bridgerton is based on Quinn's novel series, The Bridgerton. I'm now binge-watching Bridgerton on Netflix. So far, I am enjoying the series and can't wait for the second season this 25th March ^_^

ABOUT MR. CAVENDISH, I PRESUME

The novel, Mr. Cavendish, I Presume (MCIP) was first published in 2008. This novel was also nominated for the Romance Writer of America (RITA) Award during the following year. MCIP is the second book in the Two Dukes Of Wyndham series (the first book is titled The Lost Duke of Wyndham).

Like all Quinn's novels, MCPI is also set in the English Regency era. The story followed Amelia Willoughby and Thomas Cavendish. Amelia came from a very wealthy family. Her father was an Earl. She was engaged to the Duke Of Wyndham when she was only six months old. The Duke Of Wyndham's real name is Thomas Cavendish.

Amelia was introduced to Thomas when she was 21 years old. They met at a massive ball. Amelia and Thomas had their first kiss and fell in love at the ball. They were ready to get married. But a few days later, Thomas' long-lost cousin, Jack Audley appeared in the scene.

Jack claimed that he was the long-lost son of the previous Duke Of Wyndham (Thomas' uncle and the dowagers' long-lost son). Oh, dear! Could this be true? If Jack was the true Duke of Wyndham, this means that Thomas was not the Duke at all. And this also means that Thomas was never engaged to Amelia...

MY REVIEW OF MR. CAVENDISH, I PRESUME

MCIP is a very enjoyable novel to read. The storyline is simple and easy to understand. This novel is also a page-turner. It has an intriguing plot. It makes you want to know who is the real Duke of Wyndham? What will happen to Thomas and Amelia's relationship if Thomas is not the Duke? Will Amelia accept Jack as her husband-to-be? And can Thomas let go of Amelia? Woo... so many questions...

Besides the plot and storyline, I also like the characters in this novel, especially Amelia and Thomas. I believe Amelia is a very strong woman. She knows what she wants and will go for it. Thomas is also a very strong man. He knows his responsibility. And he is not a greedy person. Plus, he is also romantic and dreamy ^_^

Overall, I rate this novel 9/10. MCIP is the first Julia Quinn novel that I read. After MCIP, I wish to read more of Julia Quinn's novel. So can anyone recommend me a good Julia Quinn novel to read? Please share your recommendations in the comment box below ^_^

Last but not least, I would like to recommend Mr. Cavendish, I Presume to my fellow bookworms who are into the historical romance genre. This novel is a must-not-miss, guys. But I also have to be frank, that this novel has one romantic lovemaking scene. So it is not suitable for teenagers under 18.

Ok, this is all for now. Thank you for reading my review of Julia Quinn's Mr. Cavendish, I Presume. I hope you guys enjoyed reading this review. Insya-Allah, I shall see you guys again in my next post. Insya-Allah, I'll be sharing the first Book Heartthrob Profile series for 2022 in my next post. And I bet you guys can already guess which book heartthrob I'm going to feature ;)

XoXo,

Fadima Mooneira ^_^

  5. I don't think I've ever read any Regency romances, I tend to go for Plantagenet or Tudor periods (And I haven't watched Bridgerton either!). THis sounds like a lot of fun though, I'll have to look out for the author.
