NOVEL REVIEW: MISS MARY'S BOOK OF DREAMS BY SOPHIE NICHOLLS

Eiyo lovelies,

Welcome back to Fadima Mooneira. Today, I will share my review of Miss Mary's Book Of Dreams by Sophie Nicholls. This novel belongs to the slice-of-life genre. Now let's check out the author's bio...

Sophie Nicholls is a British author, teacher, and researcher. She lives in North Yorkshire with her partner and young daughter. Besides writing, Nicholls also loves swimming and eating dark chocolate.

Nicholls is listed as one of Amazon's bestselling authors. Other than Miss Mary's Book Of Dreams, Nicholls also wrote The Dress (her first novel) and Refugee (a book of poems). Yorkshire Post described The Dress as a delightful, uplifting novel.

ABOUT MISS MARY'S BOOK OF DREAMS

The story is set in a historic city called York. The story follows a woman named Ella. Ella seems to have a perfect life. She's a published author, owns a bookshop, and is married to the man of her dreams. Everyone believes that Ella's life is a happily ever after. But nobody knows that Ella is struggling with her own battles. Being a mother is not easy for Ella. Plus, she is worried that there may be cracks in her marriage.

In San Diego, Ella's mother, Fabia is also struggling with her own battles. Even though Fabia's thrift boutique is doing well, she still feels something is missing. She misses York and feels Ella needs her. So she flies back to England.

Later in the story, Fabia and Ella meet a young girl named Bryony. Bryony is shy and unsure, but Ella feels an immediate connection to her.

And later in the story, these three ladies find a very special book written by a woman called Miss Mary. Miss Mary lived in York during the 17th century. She had a talent for magic. Many believed Miss Mary was a witch.

With this special book, can Ella, Fabia, and Bryony help each other find the fairy tale endings they've been looking for?

MY REVIEW OF MISS MARY'S BOOK OF DREAMS

Before I bought and read this book, I didn't know that it belonged in a series. Yep, Miss Mary's Book Of Dreams (MMBOD) is the sequel to The Dress. Uhuuu... looks like I have to add The Dress to my TBR. Ngehehehe :P

Just like the Yorkshire Post described The Dress, I also describe MMBOD as delightful and uplifting. I like the moral message in the story. In life, there's no fairy tale. But you can make your life a fairy tale by being grateful for all the things you have. That's my principle since I'm now in my 30s. Hehehe ^_^

MMBOD has an interesting plot, premise, and storyline. The story is believable. And the characters are make-believe people as well. But one thing I don't like about this story is that it moves at a slow pace. I just wish the pacing was faster. However, MMBOD is still an enjoyable read. Huhuhu...

Overall, I rate this book 9/10. And I highly recommend it to my fellow bookworms. This book is good for light reading guys. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Okay, this is all for now. Thank you for reading my review of Miss Mary's Book Of Dreams. Insya-Allah, I'll see you guys again in my next post. Insya-Allah, in my next post I'll be sharing with you guys about my new novel, Saranghaeyo Namsan.
