THREE REASONS TO VISIT THE WORLD OF BEATRIX POTTER
Beatrix Potter is one of the most iconic icons in English literature. She is an English author of children's books and the creator of Peter Rabbit & Friends. Potter was born on July 28, 1866, in South Kensington, Middlesex, and died on December 22, 1943, in Sawrey, Lancashire.
During her childhood, Potter loved spending her holidays in Scotland and the English Lake District. The Lake District was the place where Potter got her inspiration to create Peter Rabbit. She began illustrating her characters in watercolor paintings. At the age of 27, Potter sent an illustrated animal story to a sick child of a former governess. The story was about four bunny siblings ~ Peter, Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cotton Tail. The illustrated letter was so well received.
In 1901, Potter privately published The Tale of Peter Rabbit. Later, The Tale of Peter Rabbit received attention from Frederick Warne & Company. In 1902, the publisher published The Tale of Peter Rabbit commercially. The success of Peter Rabbit allowed the company to publish other Potter's works such as The Tailor Of Gloucester (1903), The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin (1903), and The Tale of Benjamin Bunny (1904). After becoming an author, Potter moved to the Lake District and resided in Hill Top, a small farm in the village of Sawrey.
Other Beatrix Potter's noteable works are The Tale Of Two Bad Mice (1904), The Tale Of Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle (1905), The Tale of The Pie And The Patty-Pan (1905), The Tale of Mr. Jeremy Fisher (1906), The Story of Fierce Bad Rabbit (1906), The Story of Miss Moppet (1906), The Tale of Tom Kitten (1907), The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck (1908), The Tale of Samuel Whiskers (1908), The Tale of Flopsy Bunnies (1909), The Tale of Ginger and Pickles (1909), The Tale of Mrs. Tittle Mouse (1910), The Tale of Timmy Tiptoes (1911), The Tale of Mr. Tod (1912), The Tale of Pigling Bland (1913), Appley Dapply's Nursery Rhymes (1917), The Tale of Johny Town Mouse (1918), Cecily Parsley's Nursery Rhymes (1922), and The Tale of Little Pig Robbinson (1930).
The characters that Beatrix Potter created are now classic and evergreen icons in the children's literary world. All of Beatrix Potter's works are evergreen and eternal. Besides books, Beatrix Potter's works can also be enjoyed at The World of Beatrix Potter. The World of Beatrix Potter is an attraction building dedicated to Beatrix Potter and her fans.
In 1990, Roger Glossop and Charlotte Scott bought an Edwardian building in Windermere, Lake District. The building used to be a boat storage for wooden vessels used on Windermere. They decided to transform the boat storage into The World of Beatrix Potter. It took them many months of renovation to transform the boat storage into a building fit for a world-class exhibition with a café and a gift shop.
The World of Beatrix Potter was officially opened on July 28, 1991, during the 125th anniversary of Beatrix Potter's birthday. Since then, The World of Beatrix Potter has been welcoming visitors from all around the world. This attraction is much loved by local and international tourists. In fact, it is listed as a must-visit place if you travel to the Lake District. This is because the attraction brings Beatrix Potter's enchanting stories to life in a vibrant and magical recreation of the beautiful Lakeland countryside. As a huge fan of Beatrix Potter, this attraction is my favorite place in the Lake District. I visited The World of Beatrix Potter three times. So in this post, I'm going to share three reasons to visit The World of Beatrix Potter. Now, let's check out reason no.1 ...
#1 THE EXHIBITIONS ARE IMAGINATIVE
Imaginative is the best word to describe The World of Beatrix Potter. This attraction offers its visitors imaginative exhibitions. The experience you get when visiting this place is something you can't get at other attractions. I never get bored with The World of Beatrix Potter, even though I have visited it three times. And I'm now looking forward to the fourth time. Hehehe ^_^ This attraction is just so imaginative, amazing, and awesome. It also makes me feel calm and happy.
#2 IT INSPIRES YOU TO BE CREATIVE
Visiting The World of Beatrix Potter puts me close to the author's soul. At the attraction, you can also learn about Beatrix Potter and her works. And yes, this attraction inspires you to be creative. If you're an ordinary creative, The World of Beatrix Potter is a must on your travel bucket list.
#3 IT'S A GOOD PLACE FOR FAMILY
The World of Beatrix Potter is not just geared towards children. It is also a place for adults. Yes, this attraction is a place for families to visit. This attraction is very family-friendly. Besides the exhibition, this attraction also provides its visitors with a café and gift shop, where visitors can shop for lovely Peter Rabbit & friends souvenirs to bring home. And btw, the scones and cakes at the café are so yummy-licious ^_^
