BOOK HEARTTHROB PROFILE: JOHN MCKENNA FROM AGAIN THE MAGIC
Eiyo Fadneiras,
The Book Heartthrob Profile series is back on Fadima Mooneira. For this episode, I'm going to share my analysis of John McKenna. He is a book heartthrob created by Lisa Kleypas for one of her bestselling novels, Again The Magic. Now let's begin ...
ABOUT JOHN MCKENNA
NAME: John McKenna
AGE: 30 years old
NATIONALITY: He was born in England, but migrated to America after Lady Aline's father banished him from his estate.
OCCUPATION: He is a businessman.
HIS ROLES IN THE STORY: He is the male lead and love interest of the female lead, Lady Aline Marsden
HIS GOALS:
At the beginning of the story, McKenna was in love with the Earl of Westcliff's eldest daughter, Lady Aline Marsden. To him, she was everything. He even vowed to stay by her side as long as she needed him.
Their romance was forbidden by the Earl. To protect McKenna, Aline tragically told him that she never loved him. She also told him to leave Stony Cross Park. The heartbroken stable boy did what his lover told him to do. He migrated to America and built a new life there.
McKenna returned to Stony Cross Park as a wealthy businessman. He planned to seek revenge on the woman he once loved, who had broken his heart. His plans for her were quite cruel. But McKenna did not know the real reason why Aline had to send him away. And he didn't know what happened to her during their separation. As the days passed, McKenna discovered that his feelings for Aline had not faded.
HIS PERSONALITY
McKenna has a very dark aura. He has the same vibe as Heathcliff from Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights. Kleypas portrays McKenna as a very brooding and powerful man driven by heartbreak and a strong desire for revenge. He is a passionate alpha hero. And beneath his tough exterior, he is also tender and caring.
McKenna is also a guarded person due to his trauma and dark past. He protects his emotions by building walls around himself. Other than that, McKenna is deeply emotional, obsessed with the past, and loyal.
HIS PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES
McKenna is mysteriously handsome and dreamy. He is tall and masculine. He has dark features. His hair is black, and his eyes are dark brown in color.
HIS BACKSTORY
McKenna has a very sad and dark backstory. As a child, he was abused by his father. He was rescued and brought to Stony Cross Park, the Marsdens' estate. McKenna worked as a stable boy at the estate. And that was where he met Aline. They became friends. But as years passed, their friendship blossomed into romance.
One day, the Earl found out about his daughter's relationship with McKenna. He decided to banish McKenna from Stony Cross Park forever. The Earl planned to send McKenna to Bristol. To protect McKenna, Aline told his father that she would send McKenna away herself.
McKenna left for Bristol. Aline was very heartbroken and sad. And not long after that, Aline was hit by a huge tragedy. A tragedy that made her invalid.
McKenna did not stay in Bristol for long. He escaped his abusive boss and migrated to America. In America, McKenna built a new life. He became a successful entrepreneur. And after 12 years, he returned to England as a different man. Different from the boy Aline once knew...
MY OVERALL REVIEW OF THE CHARACTER
A love quote & snippet from Again The Magic ^_^
Oh wow! McKenna is a very intriguing and mesmerizing character. He is different from all the book heartthrobs I've analyzed before. I love his dark vibes. I find it absolutely charming. And the way Kleypas describes his feelings and all the things McKenna has been through makes me sympathize with him.
Despite his dark vibes and desire for revenge, McKenna still has his tender side. He is caring, loving, romantic, kind-hearted, and responsible. Yes, he is swoon-worthy indeed.
I believe John McKenna is one of the best book heartthrobs Lisa Kleypas has ever written, besides Tom Severin, Harry Ruttledge, and Sebastian, Lord St. Vincent. This one is beautiful as well. I had a crush on the character while reading Again The Magic.
Okay, so this is my analysis of John McKenna from Lisa Kleypas's Again The Magic. He is another book heartthrob to swoon your heart. So, has anyone read Again The Magic by Lisa Kleypas? If yes, what are your opinions of John McKenna's character?

Sounds like there's lot of layers to this character! I've enjoyed catching up with your series. You do a fab job at really getting into the ins and outs of characters.
