NOVEL REVIEW: THE LABYRINTH OF OSIRIS BY PAUL SUSSMAN

Eiyo my lovely sunshine,

Welcome back to Fadima Mooneira. Today, I'm going to share with you guys my review of a thriller novel I finished reading last week. The novel is titled The Labyrinth Of Osiris. This novel was written by Paul Sussman. Now, let's begin this review with Paul Sussman's profile.

ABOUT PAUL SUSSMAN

The late Paul Sussman (Image: independent.co.uk)

Paul Sussman was an English author, journalist, and archaeologist. He was born on the 11th of July 1966 and died on the 31st of May 2012. Most of his novels are listed as bestsellers. The Independent newspaper describes Sussman novels as "the intelligent reader's answer to The Da Vinci Code." Besides The Labyrinth Of Osiris, some of Sussman's novels were The Lost Army Of Cambyses, The Last Secret Of The Temple, The Hidden Oasis, and The Final Testimony Of Raphael Ignatius Pheonix.

ABOUT THE LABYRINTH OF OSIRIS

The Labyrinth Of Osiris (TLOO) belongs in the intelligence-thriller genre. The novel was first published in 2012 just before Sussman's death.

TLOO followed the story of a Jerusalem police officer named Arieh Ben-Roi. Ben-Roi was tasked to investigate the murder case of a well-known Israeli journalist named Rivka Kleinberg. At the beginning of the story, Kleinberg was found brutally murdered in Jerusalem's Armenian Cathedral.

Kleinberg was known for her fearless exposes. She had also made enemies with some international corporations, the Israeli government, and the Russian mafias. Ben-Roi began his investigation by researching Kleinberg's latest work. As Ben Roi researched further, he found out that Kleinberg's death had a connection with Egypt.

Later, Ben-Roi phoned his old friend, Yusuf Khalifa to help him with his investigation. Khalifa was an Egyptian detective. He worked with the Luxor Police. Khalifa was happy to help Ben-Roi. The Egyptian police officer began researching Kleinberg's other works. Besides that, Khalifa also conducted research on an old case about the mysterious death of a British Egyptologist in the 1930s. According to Khalifa's research findings, the British Egyptologist was murdered because he was about to unveil a giant labyrinth gold mine of incredible riches written about in the works of Herodotus.

But what was the connection between Kleinberg's murder and an ancient gold mine? Can Ben-Roi and Khalifa unsolve the mystery?

MY REVIEW OF THE LABYRINTH OF OSIRIS

TLOO is the thickest and the longest novel I've read this year. I'm not sure if I would reread this novel again even though I enjoyed it. Hmm... maybe in the way future. But not this time around. Hehehe ^_^

I couldn't agree more with all book experts, that TLOO is a page-flipping novel. Once you read it, you will have a hard time stopping. It makes you want to know more and more of what is going to happen next in the story.

As a reader, I believe TLOO is a brilliantly written novel. Even though I'm not a big fan of thriller novels, I did enjoy reading TLOO. This novel has a lot of mystery in it. And besides mysteries, I also learned a lot of things about human trafficking and prostitution. The author portrayed these issues so well in his fiction.

Overall, I rate this novel a 9/10. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who is into the thriller genre. The Labyrinth Of Osiris is a novel you must not miss, guys. Plus, this novel is considered a classic since it was written by Paul Sussman.

Ok, so this is my review of The Labyrinth Of Osiris by Paul Sussman. So has anyone read The Labyrinth Of Osiris? If yes, what are your opinions of this novel? Please feel free to share your opinions with me in the comment box below.

Ok, this is all for now. Thank you for reading. See you guys again in my next post. Please take care.

XoXo,

Fadima Mooneira ^_^

  3. My main question is, why would someone kill the British Egyptologist in the 1930s who was about to unveil a giant labyrinth gold mine, but then don't take those riches for themselves, or did they?
