NOVEL REVIEW: MR. DARCY GOES OVERBOARD (A TALE OF TIDE & PREJUDICE) BY BELINDA ROBERTS
Eiyo Fadneiras,
Welcome back to Fadima Mooneira. Oh wow... I'm so happy to see you guys again ^_^ And I hope you guys are doing good. For today's post, I'm going to share my review of a novel I read during my retreat at Phuket. The novel is titled Mr. Darcy Goes Overboard (A Tale Of Tide & Prejudice). This novel belongs to the contemporary romance genre and it is written by Belinda Roberts. Now let's begin this review with Belinda Roberts' bio...
ABOUT BELINDA ROBERTS
Belinda Roberts is an English author. Besides writing books, Roberts also has written several plays: Angelic Beetleheart, Christmas Candy, OTMA's Glory, Starry Night, and Vivaldi Angels. Roberts lives in the English countryside with her husband and four children. The author loves spending vacations with her family enjoying the sun, sea, and sand in Salcombe.
ABOUT MR. DARCY GOES OVERBOARD
Mr. Darcy Goes Overboard (MDGO) is another Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice retelling. The story is hilarious and sets in the modern time.
The balmy seaside resort town of Salcombe is about to host Regatta Week (a summer beach event). But the Regatta Week is not the only thing that excites Mrs. Bennet.
A handsome and disgustingly rich young lad named Fitzwilliam Darcy is coming to town for Regatta Week. He will be staying at the splendid Netherpollock Villa. Mrs. Bennet is hoping that one of her daughters will score a date with and win the heart of the most-wanted gentleman.
Mrs. Bennet and her husband have five daughters: Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Kitty, and Lydia. So which one of their daughters will win the rich and handsome Mr. Darcy?
MY REVIEW OF THE STORY
Firstly, this novel is a good book to tag along for a vacation. Even the novel's size is also perfect for your backpack ^_^ MDGO is an easy, simple, light, and fast read. The story is enjoyable. And reading it does give me a good laugh even though nothing in this story touches my heart.
Secondly, I like Belinda Roberts' writing style for this story. The writing style is very chic and easy to understand. I like that Roberts' used easy words to describe every scene in the story. She also doesn't use long and wordy sentences. That is cool!
Thirdly, reading this novel helps me to refresh my Pride & Prejudice knowledge. I've read Pride & Prejudice twice when I was back in high school. I haven't read or even touch that classic literature novel for a long time. I almost forget the story and some of the characters. Reading MDGO also makes me want to read Pride & Prejudice for the third time. Insya-Allah, I will make time for Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice even though I have a long list of books to read this year. Hehehe :P
I rate this novel 7/10. I still would like to recommend this novel to my friends who are a fan of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice, those who are going on a vacation, and those who want to start their reading hobby. MDGO is suitable for all ages. This novel doesn't have any spicy scenes. It only has some mild kissing scenes. That's all ^_^
Ok, so this is my review of Belinda Roberts' Mr. Darcy Goes Overboard (A Tale Of Tide & Prejudice). So has anyone read MDGO? If yes, what are your opinions of the story? Did you guys enjoy reading it?
Ok, this is all for now. I'll see you guys again in my next post. Take care.
XoXo,
Fadima Mooneira ^_^
