NOVEL REVIEW: THE TASTE OF INNOCENCE BY STEPHANIE LAURENS

Eiyo Fadneiras,

Fadima Mooneira is back after taking two weeks break from blogging. Did you guys miss me? Hehehe... I miss you guys too ^_^ On the first week, I went for a one-week retreat in Phuket. And for the second week, I was busy with the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2023 (PBAKL 2023). My novel, Fail Merah took part in the Ruang Mandiri. Syukur alhamdulillah. It was an awesome experience. I am forever grateful for the experience and already missing PBAKL ^_^

However, I'm not here to share with you guys about the book fair. But Insya-Allah, I will share about it on my author's website, F. Mooneira's Bookshelf around this week. Today, I want to share my review of a historical romance novel titled The Taste Of Innocence (TTOI). This novel is written by Stephanie Laurens. Now let's begin today's objective with Stephanie Laurens's bio...

ABOUT STEPHANIE LAURENS

New York Times bestselling author~ Stephanie Laurens (Image: writerswrite.com)

Stephanie Laurens is a New York Times bestselling author. All of her stories are set in the British Regency era to early Victorian times. Laurens has published over 70 historical romance novels, and all of them have been translated into many other languages. 40 of her novels are listed as bestsellers.

Laurens begins writing romantic stories as a hobby. Her hobby quickly became a career when her first novel was accepted by a publisher. And the rest was history.

ABOUT THE TASTE OF INNOCENCE

The Taste Of Innocence (TTOI) is the 15 book in the Cynster series. The story is set in the Regency era, the year 1833. The story follows a handsome man named Charles Morwellan. Charles is the eighth Earl of Meredith.

Charles does not want to fall in love even though he has observed many happy Cynester unions. It is all because he once watched his father's obsessive love nearly destroy their family. However, Charles knows his duty as the Earl of Meredith. He must find a bride and sire an heir.

Sarah Conningham is beautiful and bright. Charles went to the Conninghams' land. And he proposes to Sarah. But to Charles' surprise, Sarah refuses to wed him if he has no love for her. Sarah wants to marry for love. So she challenges Charles to sweep her off her feet. Charles accepts Sarah's challenge and he is determined to win her.

Charles courts Sarah with excruciating propriety during the day. While during the night he spirits her away into the moonlit gardens and tutors her in the art of passion. Umm...wow!!! Sarah finds herself smitten with Charles. She agrees to marry him. Sarah believes Charles is the true lover of her dreams.

After their wedding, Charles returns to his old self leaving Sarah wondering which man she actually married - the controlled aristocrat, or the lover whose touch leaves her gasping. But then, Sarah finds out that her life is in danger. So will Charles protect Sarah? And will the threat make Charles realizes his love for Sarah?

MY REVIEW OF THE TASTE OF INNOCENCE

Firstly, this novel is quite an enjoyable read. I like Laurens' writing style for this novel. The writing style is very chic and sexy. Laurens describes all the spicy scenes so well. Ooohhh!!! :P

Besides the writing style, I also like some of the characters in this novel. And my favorite character in TTOI is Sarah Conningham. To me, Sarah is a very bright female lead. She is smart and quick-witted. Plus, she's also kind and has a soft spot for children.

To be honest, TTOI is the first Stephanie Laurens novel I've read. I haven't read her other works yet. So I can't compare TTOI with Laurens' other novels. And I still can't declare myself as a member of her fandom yet. I need to read at least two more of her works. And I'm planning to check them. After all, she's one of the historical romance queens and a New York Times bestseller. Btw, any recommendations, guys? Hehehe ^_^

Last but not least, I rate this novel 8/10. And I like to recommend TTOI to my fellow bookworms who are into the historical romance genre. I also give this novel a 5/5 spiciness rating. 5/5 means this novel is not suitable for those who are under 18. Sorry under 18 teenagers. All the lovemaking scenes in this novel are just too spicy:P

Ok, so this is my review of The Taste Of Innocence by Stephanie Laurens. Thank you for reading this review. I will see you guys again in my next post. Take care ^_^

XoXo,
