FIVE BENEFITS OF A JOURNALING HOBBY
Journaling is now one of the most popular hobbies in the world. And I love journaling too. This hobby serves as a private practice of writing down your thoughts, feelings, experiences, and reflections to gain self-awareness and process your inner world. Journaling is used to express emotions, reduce stress, facilitate problem-solving, and promote personal growth.
Journaling is good and healthy for our minds. Generally, it helps us to improve our mental health. Journaling is good for self-care and love practice. Plus, journaling is not an expensive hobby. All you need is a pen, paper, a lovely notebook, or any creative tools to get started. In this post, I will share the five benefits of the journaling hobby. Now let’s get started …
#1 IT BRINGS MENTAL & EMOTIONAL BENEFITS
Writing down your thoughts and experiences on a piece of paper or in a notebook is a good way to communicate with yourself. That’s why journaling helps you with your mental health. It brings awareness. Plus, this is a good way to practice communication and express yourself.
#2 IT HELPS YOU TO BE PRESENT
Sometimes the buzz of life makes us overwhelmed. It makes us think too much about the future that is not yet written. And sometimes it makes us dwell too much on the past that is already written. But journaling brings us back to the present. And yes, being present is one of the keys to happiness.

#3 IT HELPS YOU TO DISCOVER YOURSELF
Discovering yourself is one of the best gifts ever. And self-discovery can be achieved through journaling, as it allows you to communicate with yourself. From journaling, you can discover parts of you that need healing and attention. Plus, you can even discover your hidden qualities ^_^
#4 IT HELPS YOU TO CREATE HISTORY
Journals are also memoirs. By writing your thoughts, experiences, and daily life, you can create history. Your great-grandchildren can learn about you from your journal. And who knows, your story might become an inspiration for them.
Reading our old journals also puts a smile on our faces. Not all memories are easy to remember. But with journaling, everything is in record ^_^
#5 IT ENHANCES YOUR CREATIVITY
Journaling is one of the best ways to enhance your creativity. Journaling has no rules. You can write and do whatever you want with your journal. You can even invent your own words (that’s what I like to do >_<). Journaling is not just about writing. You can also do a drawing journal, picture journal, and video journal. Btw, video journal is quite popular these days. A video journal is good for those who are extroverted and love to talk.
I used to have a comic journal when I was working at the Prime Minister’s Office. I shared my experience, thoughts, and daily life as a contract civil servant in that journal. And I even drew funny caricatures of my colleagues. Hehehe ... sorry, guys :P Btw, this comic journal helps me generate ideas to write my first novel, Fail Merah ^_^
Okay, so these are the five benefits of a journaling hobby. Anyone who likes to be creative should start and have this hobby. And if you call yourself an ordinary creative, journaling is a hobby you need to have. To start and keep yourself motivated with journaling, all you need to do is get yourself a lovely notebook and some creative tools like multi-colored papers, pens, markers, stickers, etc. Plus, there are also digital apps for journaling.
So ... is anyone into journaling? If yes, what kind of journal are you keeping?
Okay, this is all for now. Thank you for reading this post. I’ll see you guys again next week. Insya-Allah.

I don't journal half as much as I probably should! But I really enjoy the creativity and individuality that comes with it. I also think it's great for reflection and picking up on daily positives - Especially if you might think your day's not going so great. Thanks for the reminder to get journaling!
