Since it's bookish season now in Malaysia, I will share another book-related post today. I want to geek about my favorite Malaysian author. Yay! I'm going to make this post fun and enjoyable ^_^ Btw, I'm sure some of you are a fan of this author too. Before I introduce her, let me share with ya some hints...
1) This author is a lady in her early 30s,
2) She writes in the romance genre,
3) She is famous for writing swoon-worthy stories and characters.
So, can you guess who this author is? Yep, she is the awesome ANJELL! Yay! Now let's begin this post with Anjell's bio. After that, we shall carry on with a summary of Anjell's works, and some geeking questions.
ABOUT ANJELL
Anjell is Malaysia's bestselling romance novelist. Her notable works are Eksperimen Cinta, Suamiku Paling Sweet, Tundukan Playboy Itu, Hero Seorang Cinderella, Dr. Alpha Male, Dheo's, Dia Tetap Sempurna, King Haidar, Rose's, and Lelaki Astatine. Two of her novels, Tundukan Playboy Itu and Hero Seorang Cinderella, have already been adapted into a TV drama series.
Besides writing, this talented young author also enjoys spending quality time with her cat. Anjell appreciates her fans a lot. To Anjell, support from fans is her motivation to create swoon-worthy heroes and strong-willed heroines.
ANJELL'S WORKS
Anjell is famous for her heart-melting romantic stories with modern fairytale vibes. Her works are captivating, charming, attractive, alluring, desirable, and irresistible. That's why they win readers' hearts. Besides writing romantic plot, storyline, and premise, Anjell is also good at crafting swoon-worthy characters. The characters that Anjell creates are memorable to readers.
Even though her stories are set in the real world, Anjell also builds her own universe. Yep, universe-building is not just for fantasy authors. A lot of romance authors build their universe, too. Anjell creates a lot of cool places in her stories, such as the La Prince Hotel and I's Café. These places play an important role in the Anjell universe. They became the characters' favorite places to chill out and hang out with their friends. And the way Anjell describes these places makes her readers wish they existed. I really wish the La Prince Hotel existed. I'm sure the La Prince Hotel would be a tourist attraction in Kuala Lumpur. A hotel with 50 floors. Wow! That's massive!
Besides creating cool places for her stories, Anjell also gives her characters connections. I.e, the female lead in King Haidar, Suria Andreana, is best friends with the female lead in Dia Tetap Sempurna, Dara Nailufar. Anjell also gives her characters cameo appearances in different stories. What Anjell is doing is a good marketing strategy for writers. It brings readers closer to the characters that the author created. It gives readers a chance to geek about the author's works. Besides Anjell, authors who created their own universe are Lisa Kleypas, Eloisa James, Julia Quinn, Ana Huang, Lauren Asher, Elvroseth, and Fadima Mooneira. Hehehe :P
Besides her heart-melting stories, swoon-worthy characters, and creativity in universe building, I also see Anjell as a good analyst. Anjell's stories aren't just romantic, but some of them are deep, too. Anjell promotes good moral values in her stories. Anjell's stories aren't just about romance. Her stories are also about family, friendship, and life. Besides just imagination, Anjell also put her soul into her writings. Yes, I can feel Anjell's soul every time I read her novels. Soul is another important ingredient in writing besides imagination, guys.

#1 WHEN DID YOU START BEING A FAN OF ANJELL? AND WHAT IS THE FIRST NOVEL FROM ANJELL THAT YOU READ?
I became a fan of Anjell back in 2022. That was three years ago. I actually heard of Anjell from one of my writing mentors, Puan Umie Nadzimah (one of Malaysia's bestselling novelists), back in 2020. But at that time, I had not had the chance to read her works yet. During my birthday in 2022, my BFF, Maddy M, gave me Dr. Alpha Male as a birthday present. Dr. Alpha Male was one of Anjell's bestselling novels. Reading that novel made me instantly fall in love with Anjell's works. After Dr. Alpha Male, I started reading Dheo's, Dia Tetap Sempurna and King Hairdar. Reading these novels makes me fall in love more with Anjell's works. This was how I joined the Anjell fandom. And Dr. Alpha Male was the first novel by Anjell that I read. Thank you, Maddy ^_^
#2 RANK ANJELL'S NOVELS FROM MOST FAVORITE TO LEAST FAVORITE

4) Suamiku Paling Sweet (I'm reading this novel now and already loving it. I'm crushing on Izz Haikal now. He is such a swoon-worthy male lead and a dream hero. Auuuwww! ^_^)

PS: I have not read Tundukan Playboy Itu and Eksperimen Cinta. Insya-Allah, will read these two novels in the future.
#3 WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE MALE LEAD WRITTEN BY ANJELL? AND WHY?
That has to be Dheo Han from Dheo's and Rose's. In fact, Dheo Han is my top three favorite book heartthrobs alongside Harry Rutledge (Tempt Me At Twiling by Lisa Kleypas) and Tom Severin (Chasing Cassandra by Lisa Kleypas).
Dheo Han is a morally grey mafia prince with an iceberg persona. And he is the owner of the massive La Prince Hotel. Hehehe ^_^ Dheo is cold but beautiful. He hardly smiles and always shows people a poker face, especially to his enemies. Most people are scared of him. Dheo is also very mysterious and hard for others to read. But deep down, Dheo is actually a very kind-hearted, romantic, and tender-loving man. He loves Nurissa Rose (the female lead) dearly with all his heart. And does everything to get her in his arms again. To Dheo, Rose is worth fighting for. And he never gives up on her. Yep, he is very loyal.
Besides being kind-hearted, romantic, and tender-loving, Anjell also portrays Dheo as a very confident, charismatic, charming, suave, bold, and intelligent man. Oh, how I wish I would meet someone like Dheo Han one day. It's so nice to have a husband who loves you with all his heart and is always willing to face the storms with you.
#4 WHO DO YOU FAN CAST AS DHEO HAN?
When I first read Dheo's back in 2022, I had a massive crush on Malaysian-Australian actor, Remy Hii. So I fan casted Remy as Dheo Han. Like Dheo, Remy is also a Eurasian (yep, he is a Chinese-Malaysian mixed with English), charismatic, and talented in art and music. Plus, Remy can write and do work with his left and right hands. And as a fan of Remy Hii, it's always my dream to see him playing a character with a dark, mysterious, and enigmatic aura. If any filmmakers want to make Dheo's a film or TV series, please cast Remy for this role. I'm sure he will carry the character well and make people love Dheo Han even more ^_^
#5 IS YOUR FAVORITE MALE LEAD CLOSE TO YOUR IDEAL TYPE?
Yes, I can say Dheo Han is close to my ideal type. I like a man who is kind-hearted, intellectual, humble, and has integrity. I also have a thing for men with mysterious vibes. And oh yeah, I like men who accept women for who they are. Not the one who wants to fix women. Hehehe ^_^
#6 WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE FEMALE LEAD WRITTEN BY ANJELL? AND WHY?
That has to be Nurissa Rose. She's the female lead in Dheo's and Rose's. She's Dheo Han's love interest and beloved wife. I believe Nurissa Rose is one of the best book beauties an author has ever created. Even though Rose is innocent and gentle, she's still sassy and smart. Rose is the kind of girl who speaks her mind. She knows what she wants and what is right for her. She's not an easy girl for anyone to bully. Rose is also a kind-hearted person. She doesn't judge Dheo for his past and background. She accepts him for who he is and is always willing to face the storms with him. I believe Rose is one of the book beauties every girl must look up to as a role model.
#7 SO, WHO DO YOU FAN CAST AS NURISSA ROSE?
Anjell portrays Rose as a natural beauty with a beautiful smile that melts most hearts. Therefore, I believe South Korea's beautiful and talented actress, Im Yoona, is the best to play Nurissa Rose. Like Rose, Yoona is also a natural beauty with a beautiful smile and innocent vibe. And Yoona can be sassy too. So she's perfect for the role.
#8 WHICH ANJELL CHARACTER CAN YOU STRONGLY RELATE TO?
Oh... this is quite hard. I believe I'm 30% Eshal Elzahra (Lelaki Astatine) because I got a little dark vibe in me. And I'm 70% Dara Nailufar (Dia Tetap Sempurna) for my sunshine vibe. And like Dara, I'm also a go-getter and always curious. Plus, we both are into mysterious guys. Hehehe ^_^
#9 WHAT DID YOU LEARNED FROM READING ANJELL'S NOVELS?
I learned about love, relationships, life, family, and friendship by reading Anjell's novels. Anjell portrays love, relationships, life, family, and friendship so well in her works. Anjell's novels aren't soft porn at all. Sorry haters, you did not do your analysis right :P Besides the moral messages, reading Anjell's novels also helps me to learn how to write creatively yet precisely. That's Anjell's writing style. And these are the things that make me enjoy reading Anjell's novels.
