The Book Heartthrob Profile is back! Yay! For this month's episode, I'm going to feature Declan Kane. He is a book heartthrob created by Lauren Asher for one of her bestselling novels, Terms & Conditions. Let's check out Declan Kane's profile...
ABOUT DECLAN KANE
NAME: Declan Lancelot Kane
AGE: 36 years old
NATIONALITY: Irish-American
OCCUPATION: CFO of the Kane Company. But soon to be the CEO.
HIS GOALS:
As the eldest grandson of Brady Kane, Declan aspires to become the CEO of the Kane Company. Declan wants to be a leader and wants to set himself and his brothers free from their evil father, Seth Kane. But to become the CEO, Declan must get married and sire an heir. That's Brady's will for him.
At the beginning of the story, Declan is busy looking for a potential bride. But unfortunately, he cannot find one. So his secretary, Iris Landry, offers herself for the job. And Declan accepts Iris's offer with terms & conditions. And as they get to know each other, Declan starts to develop feelings for Iris...
HIS PERSONALITY
Declan is portrayed as a strict leader, ambitious, unfriendly, rude, cold, sarcastic, and intimidating. Declan has an icy facade. He is good at manipulating situations for his benefit and always gets what he wants. On the surface level, Declan may seem like a person with no compassion. But beyond the surface, Declan actually has a soft and caring heart. He is a master of hiding his emotions. Declan is a very responsible big brother. He loves his brothers (Cal and Rowan) a lot. Declan spends his life protecting Cal and Rowan from their cruel father. He also acts like a father to them.
HIS PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES
The author describes Declan as a very handsome man. He is tall and all masculine. Declan has fair skin, dark hair, and brown eyes.
I fan casted Italian blogger, fashion designer, and actor, Mariano Di Vaio as Declan Kane. Like Declan, Mariano is also tall, masculine, and has the dreamy dark look. So he will be perfect for the role.
HIS BACKSTORY
Declan is born super-rich. He is the heir of the Kane Company. He is the eldest son of three brothers. However, life is not a fairytale for Declan and his brothers. After his mother passed away, Declan and his brothers were neglected by their father. Seth Kane treated his sons like shit. To Seth, raising his sons by himself means accepting that his wife is truly gone. The cruel father is too scared to face his fear. So he abandoned them and replaced himself with an alter ego that none of them don't recognized. Instead of losing one parent, Declan and his brothers lose two parents. One to cancer and one to his vices.
As the eldest son, Declan vows to protect his brothers. He became a father to them. He taught Rowan how to ride a bike, stayed up late helping Rowan do his homework despite doing his own. He even sacrificed an Ivy League education so he could stay in Chicago near his brothers.
His brothers, business, and career are the only things Declan cares about. Declan grows up as a successful businessman. But he forgets his own happiness and love. That's why his grandfather gave him a strange yet cheeky will. It's all for Declan's own good ^_^
MY OVERALL REVIEW OF THE CHARACTER
When I read The Fine Print last year, I had a crush on Rowan Kane. But after reading Terms & Conditions last month, I started falling for Declan more than Rowan. Hehehe... btw, I always have a thing for the eldest brother. Hehehe ^_^
Declan may seem rude and cold on the surface. But he is actually a kind-hearted person. I like that he is responsible and cares a lot about his brothers. He is also kind to the female lead, Iris, even though he doesn't show it loudly. Like Declan, Iris is also a person with past traumas and pain. Together, they navigate their journey with grace. They become a catalyst for each other's spiritual growth. They awaken each other's light. And I like that.
Overall, Declan Kane is an awesome male lead. He is not just swoon-worthy. But he is also a make-believe character. Cheers to Lauren Asher on creating an awesome book heartthrob. Yay!
Okay, so this is my analysis of Declan Kane, a book heartthrob from Lauren Asher's Terms & Conditions. Terms & Conditions is the second book in Lauren Asher's Dreamland Billionaires series. I read the novel last month. But I have not written a review of it yet. Insya-Allah, the review of Terms & Conditions will be in my July & August Reading Wrap-Up end of this month. So stay tuned ^_^
