In this post, Maddy M will share her analysis of Christian Harper from Ana Huang's Twisted Lies. Since it's still February, this book heartthrob profile episode will be another Fadima Mooneira Febulove special.

ABOUT CHRISTIAN HARPER
NAME: Christian Harper
ESTIMATED AGE: Early 30s
NATIONALITY: American
OCCUPATION: CEO of Harper Security, an elite security company. He also delves into other businesses including properties (it was all thanks to the Mirage, the residential building he owns, that he managed to get personally acquainted with his love interest, Stella Alonso).
HIS ROLES IN THE STORY: The male protagonist and the love interest to the female protagonist, Stella Alonso.
HIS GOALS: Christian Harper’s initial reason to get close to Stella was because he had felt a mysterious pull towards her. He wanted to find out what was behind the obsession he felt towards Stella, thinking that once the puzzle was unraveled, he could get Stella out of his mind and move on with his life like before. Never did Christian realize that what he felt for Stella was actually love – and that once he got her into his life, it would never be the same again and there was no moving on for him.....
After learning about Stella’s predicament (she needed to land a job as a fashion brand ambassador and at the same time facing a hard time being harassed by a mysterious stalker), Christian’s goal expanded towards helping Stella with her troubles.
He had proposed to become her fake boyfriend as a win-win solution. The fake relationship could help Stella gain more popularity and put her as the favorite candidate in the run for the brand ambassador post. Christian’s presence as a boyfriend could also protect her in the stalker situation. In fact, Christian vowed to hunt down Stella’s stalker and eliminate him for good.
In return for his role in their relationship of convenience, Christian asked Stella to be his companion in the many social and business events that he had to attend.
HIS PERSONALITY
Christian Harper was created as a morally grey character who had no scruples. Intelligent and cunning, he always finds ways to get what he wants – no matter how he gains it. He would also make sure to get back at people who dared to cross him. He favored doing cyber-sabotage on people who annoyed him, but if they angered him enough, deadlier consequences awaited...
He was not known to be selfless; thus, many characters from Ana Huang’s fictional world always think twice before seeking Christian Harper’s assistance. He would not do something merely out of the kindness of his heart except if he had equal returns to what he was doing (however, that’s not the case when it comes to Stella).
On the surface, he seemed to be a cold and detached person. Nevertheless, he had his sentimental side which was reserved wholly for Stella Alonso as well as Magda – a painting that everyone said to be hideous but he still kept for some personal reasons.
Although Christian Harper hardly ever laughs and his smile is so scarce, he is not all stiff and rigid: he has a quirky side, including his liking for the Spice Girls! He also enjoys doing activities that could challenge his mind, such as crosswords and jigsaw puzzles.
HIS PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES
It was mentioned in the novel that Stella Alonso found Christian Harper to be “classically good-looking”. He has dark hair, whiskey-colored eyes, and a perfectly chiseled face. Standing at six foot three, Christian surely is a tall man! He is also described as one who always wears smart, perfectly-tailored clothes befitting his image as CEO. His immaculate self is shown not only via his dressing but also through his spotless apartment and car.
HIS BACKSTORY
Christian Harper first debuted in Twisted Games, followed by Twisted Hate before finally being given his own story in Twisted Lies. Later on, he also appeared in Ana Huang’s Kings of Sin series, particularly King of Wrath in which he played a major supporting character.
Christian Harper’s cynical personality was shaped by his past. It also caused him to not believe in love. After the tragedy that befell his own parents (who had been besotted with each other), he concluded that love only led people to become foolish and do crazy things – thus his initial aversion to any feelings of love, until Stella.
Christian had actually been harboring feelings towards Stella for several years – long before she ever set her eyes on him. All his life, Christian only saw the world as full of evil and darkness. So when Stella came along and became living proof that people are still capable of kindness, Christian’s worldview was shattered. He became attracted to her and thought his obsession with Stella was something complex that needed to be solved like a puzzle. He never expected to fall in love with Stella, but he did.

MY OVERALL REVIEW OF THE CHARACTER
Christian Harper is a dream lover for many women despite his sometimes unscrupulous ways. He had a protective side and he was supportive of Stella’s ambitions.
His protective side was obvious when he dealt with Stella’s stalker issue. While exhausting all his resources to track down the stalker, Christian would accompany Stella whenever she goes outside, including when she goes outstation or having dinner with her family. If he was not available to escort Stella, he would have his men watching over her for the sake of her safety.
Despite his protectiveness, Christian was at the same time supportive of Stella’s ambitions and wanted her to be strong on her own as well. He helped Stella with the paperwork for her business and always encouraged her to try and do the best in her job. He also believed in her even when she didn’t believe in herself.
Overall, Christian Harper is the perfect lover for Stella Alonso, as their character complements each other. Where Christian is unscrupulous, uncharitable, yet self-assured, Stella is kindly, caring, and sometimes insecure. Even his physique was perfect for Stella: his tall frame made Stella feel less aware of her own Amazonian figure. Thus, without a doubt, Christian Harper and Stella Alonso are truly made for each other!
ABOUT THE GUEST WRITER
Maddy M loves reading so much and her current motto is “Never wait to buy books”. She realized that some books that went out of print may not be reprinted ever again, so it is better to buy them while the books are still available in the market. One of her dreams is to spend a month doing nothing but reading her TBR list on the beach while enjoying the sea breeze.
