BOOK HEARTTHROB PROFILE: REZA FROM MAYBE THIS IS LOVE
Eiyo Fadneiras,
Welcome back to my blog. How are you guys doing? And to my fellow Malaysian bookworms, how's KLIBF 2026? And how's your book haul going? Yup, it's bookish season in Malaysia now. The Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair (KLIB) 2026 is still ongoing. I hope you guys are having a ball.
I attended the early three days of KLIBF 2026. Syukur alhamdulillah, the first three days were a blessing for me. Thank you to fellow authors and bookworms who supported me and brought home Manchester Epiphany, Saranghaeyo Namsan, and Fail Merah. Your support means the world to me. For those who haven't been to the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) for KLIBF 2026, please make your time and join the fun. And for those who are planning to go to KLIBF, please visit the Creative Exclusive Publication booth that is located at Bilik Pahang, and the Love Novel (126) booth at Bilik Mawar. Both Bilik Pahang and Bilik Mawar are located on level 2 of WTCKL. These are the booths where you can get my books. Insya-Allah, I'll be back at WTCKL for the last three days of KLIBF 2026 (5-7 June). Insya-Allah, we can meet up. And btw, on 7 June (Sunday), I'll be having a Meet & Greet session at the Love Novel booth (126) with one of Malaysia's hot selling novelist, Maisarah. So if you're free this Sunday, please come to the Meet & Greet event to support Maisarah and me. We are looking forward to meeting you as well ^_^
Okay, this is all about KLIBF 2026. Now let's carry on with today's objective. The book heartthrob profile episode is back with Reza! Yay!!! He is a book heartthrob written by one of Singapore's bestselling authors, Maria Mahat, for her famous novel, Maybe This Is Love. Okay, let's check out Reza's profile...
ABOUT REZA
NAME: Reza (His full name was not mentioned)
AGE ESTIMATED: Late 20s
NATIONALITY: Singaporean
OCCUPATION: He is an accounting graduate from the University of Melbourne, Australia. He used to work at an accounting firm in Australia. But he returned to Singapore after his father got ill. When he first returned, Reza did many freelance work include modelling. Towards the end of the story, Reza secures a corporate position at a financial firm in Singapore.
HIS ROLES IN THE STORY: He is the male lead and also the love interest of the female lead, Sufiah.
HIS GOALS:
Reza has a different life approach compared to Sufiah’s rigid, milestone-driven checklist. Reza wants to find his own personal, authentic connection to his creator rather than performing religion just to satisfy external societal or family pressures. Reza values sincerity over superficiality. His journey is focused on aligning his internal moral compass with his actions, allowing his personal spiritual maturity to happen naturally.
HIS PERSONALITY
Reza is portrayed as a laid-back and carefree person. He is not so religious and quite impulsive. But deep down, Reza is a selfless and kind-hearted person. He is a responsible man, son, and big brother. Reza is not a bad person. He is just a lost soul who is searching for himself and divine love.
HIS PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES
Maria Mahat portrays Reza as a tall-dark-and-handsome Malay hunk. Oh... no wonder he is a model. The author gives him a dreamy look. Reza has tan skin, a tall and masculine figure, dark hair, and eyes. His smile melts everyone's heart. When I was reading the novel, I imagined SF9's former member, Rowoon, as Reza. Hehehe ^_^
HIS BACKSTORY
After finishing high school, Reza's parents sent him to further his studies at the University of Melbourne, Australia. Living in Australia made Reza feel comfortable with the people and lifestyle there. But after graduation, Reza returned to Singapore to complete his National Service.
After his National Service, Reza returned to Australia and worked for an accounting firm where he had done his internship. Reza enjoyed working and living in Australia. He had even obtained Permanent Resident status. But unfortunately, his days in Australia did not last long. Reza had to return to Singapore when his father got ill.
As a responsible son, Reza did not obey his parents. He returned home jobless and feeling lost. And soon, he met Sufiah. And that leads him to a spiritual journey to discover himself...
MY OVERALL REVIEW OF THE CHARACTER
Like Arban Batsaikhan (the male lead in my latest novel, Manchester Epiphany), Reza is another non-cringing hero. But his kindness makes him swoon-worthy enough to melt my heart. I believe other female readers would feel the same. Hehehe ^_^
I like that Maria Mahat makes Reza a responsible young man. He is his parents' only son and the eldest child. I like Reza's relationship with his mother. I also like his relationship with his younger sister. He is a very caring big brother. Even though Reza is portrayed as a playboy at the beginning of the story, he remains polite and humble, especially towards the elderly. No wonder Sufiah's aunt, Aunt Noor, likes him. Hehehe ^_^
Yes, Reza is an amazing book heartthrob for me. Not just because he is good-looking. But he has all the qualities of a good man. He may not be the Uztaaz kinda person. But he is sweet and always works hard to become a better version of himself. This kinda man is amazing!
Okay, so this is my analysis of Reza from Maria Mahat's Maybe This Is Love. He is a book heartthrob to swoon your heart with his own way. Maybe This Is Love was one of the best books I've read last year. I highly recommend you check it out. It is lighthearted and heartwarming. It is also chic. I like the fashion Maria Mahat gives her characters.
Okay, this is all for now. Thank you for joining me again on this month's book heartthrob profile episode. Insya-Allah, the book heartthrob profile will be back in August.
To my Malaysian fellow bookworms, Happy Book Haul! KLIBF 2026 is still on ^_^ And if you're planning to go to the book fair this Sunday, don't forget to come for Maisarah x Fadima Mooneira Meet & Greet at Love Novel (booth no. 126), Bilik Mawar Level 2, WTCKL.
